Testing with TestVision

Yes, TestVision is suitable for both formative and summative tests. Some features fit better with formative tests, such as giving feedback on answers. Other features are mainly intended for summative tests, such as IP address checking or use of a secure browser. So you can choose the functionalities that fit the test.

Even inexperienced users can put together a test in just a few hours using TestVision. That’s because the system is built on sound assessment principles and clear procedures. In other words, the structure is logical and clear. No maze of menus or endless submenus, and no unnecessary steps. Everything is intuitive.

Need help? You can rely on our instructional videos, the built-in context-sensitive help in TestVision, and detailed user guides. But support goes beyond just using the system. We also offer tools to help with test design. From guidance on question types and scoring rules to easily setting a cut-off score based on guess probability.

If you, as a user, would like to receive personal guidance while designing a test, that is also possible with a private instruction of approximately one hour.

TestVision offers a wide range of question types, including:

  • Single-choice question
  • Multiple-choice question
  • Multiple-choice with selection limit
  • True/false question
  • Classification question
  • Single and multiple hotspot question
  • Hotmatch question
  • Match question (one-to-one)
  • Match question (many-to-one)
  • Multiple fill-in question

You can insert media (image, video, sound), formulas, hyperlinks, external audio and video (embedded), and downloadable files.

Absolutely! TestVision automatically grades all objective (closed) questions. For open-ended questions, the platform offers advanced settings, including options for reassessment rules and assigning tests to specific assessors. In addition, TestVision offers a feedback feature that allows assessors to provide personalized comments directly to candidates.

In addition to evaluating individual test results, TestVision also provides tools to assess the overall quality and effectiveness of a test. How did candidates perform across the board? Were there questions that may need clarification? Should scores be adjusted afterwards, either individually or collectively? TestVision helps ensure each test meets high quality standards and supports continuous improvement for future tests.

TestVision allows for item-level analysis to evaluate the effectiveness and quality of each question. In addition, the platform offers Learning Analytics. By selecting and combining data from the database, you can generate management reports. This is useful for internal insights or accountability to clients and stakeholders.

The export function allows you to store data in CSV and XML files, for example for processing in other applications.

Implementation and use of TestVision

Certainly. With TestVision, you can develop your test digitally and then administer it on paper. This way, you benefit from functionalities such as the structured building of an item bank and the (randomly or not) assembly of a test based on the test matrix. Once the test is ready, TestVision creates a PDF of the test, including the answer sheet and answer key. The test can now be taken on paper.

Objective questions can be scanned and checked in TestVision using scanning software. Open-ended questions are manually grated and processed in TestVision. The analysis and grade determination are then done in TestVision, as if the test was digitally taken. Just like with digital testing, candidates can view the results digitally afterwards.

TestVision is specifically used for large groups. Of course, it is important that the facilities at the test location are in order, such as a secure internet connection and sufficient speed.

Feeling unsure? Then get a test plan created and carried out. This helps you avoid issues.

Yes, there are several options. You can request an ‘online demo environment’. You will then have unlimited access to TestVision for two months. It is also possible to run a pilot and take an actual test. Please contact us for more information.

We can have TestVision up and running for you within a few working days.
If integrations with other systems are needed or if question sets need to be migrated, the setup will take more time. In that case, we’ll create a timeline together in consultation.

TestVision supports QTI, but can also import content from formats such as MS Excel. Every migration is different, even when using standards like QTI. After running a trial migration, we can provide tailored advice. In some cases, questions can be imported smoothly, with or without minor manual adjustments. In other cases, additional programming may be required.

Absolutly! When you test digitally, you often also want to exchange data with existing systems, such as

  • Candidate data from the administration system.
  • Examination information, so that the correct test is ready when the candidate has registered or if he meets the conditions in the learning portal.
  • Testresults that are processed in the student administration system or learning portal.
  • Authorization (single sign on), with which candidates and developers can log in via an account that they already use within the organization (for example, SURFconext).

We use API and LTI for all these connections.

Want the test system to match your organization’s or school’s own style? No problem. Our skins ensure the software reflects your unique branding. And if you need specific features, customizations are always possible.

TestVision is SaaS (Software as a Service). This means TestVision runs in the cloud, so you can access it anytime via the internet. We take care of all maintenance, so you don’t have to worry about it. We always offer the latest version, without you having to perform any maintenance yourself.

Absolutely. We’re continuously developing TestVision to keep up with the latest trends in testing. But you may also have specific needs or ideas. These can be shared through the TestVision User Group, a community run by TestVision users from both education and business sectors. The group focuses on sharing knowledge and provides valuable input to Teelen on user needs and possibilities for further development.
